Aaron’s story of restoration
Aaron had no alternatives left. Every option and choice had been worn out through poor decision making. Although he attended church and youth group faithfully, a broken relationship and hypocrisy propelled him into substance abuse and depression.
While camping with a friend in California, his tent slipped off the edge of a cliff. He fell sixty feet to the rocks and water below, and was broken physically, emotionally and spiritually. Surgery and intensive rehabilitation followed the near-fatal accident. He was recovering physically but was no closer to God; his past struggles had him blaming God rather than remembering the Jesus of his youth. He rebuilt his life around substance abuse again, and found himself destitute, without relationships, and incarcerated. He was out of options.
At home, Aaron and his parents found His Mansion through a Google search for New Hampshire rehabs. His family liked the idea of a faith-based program, and he applied, though he was firm in his resolve not to commit his life to Jesus. When he arrived he could definitely see that “something” was going on in the lives around him. He began to think that maybe, just maybe, Jesus was real and what his heart had been looking for all along. He decided to “give Jesus a chance with small things.”
God revealed Himself to Aaron in tearful encounters that impressed on him that He was near and present, a God who would be near forever. Aaron knew then that Jesus was real, and was his Rock and Redeemer. God also used him to speak to and encourage another man in the program, and Aaron realized that God has a purpose for his life.
More from Aaron
After completing the Resident Recovery Program, Aaron joined the Servant Leader Program. As he ministers to other men in recovery, the Lord continues to grow him in discipleship, leadership and relationships.
“I think of John 3:30, He increases as I decrease. I am learning to love others as Jesus loves them. I am growing in His wisdom and discernment as I step into Biblical leadership.”
The October 2025 graduates
“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us.” 1 John 4:16
The Lord has done mighty things in the lives of these five men and women, who worked hard to successfully complete the Resident Recovery Program.
Summer recap
Perhaps no single day captures the essence of His Mansion better than the day of the annual baptisms and Summer Shindig. On July 16th the whole community gathered at the Deering Reservoir, where several Residents publicly declared their faith in Christ and stepped into new life through the waters of baptism. The joy and testimonies shared were a powerful reminder of God’s redemptive love. That evening the community gathered for the Summer Shindig, an event of fellowship, a talent show, and a lot of joy and laughter.
Other highlights included an evening at a New Hampshire Fisher Cats baseball game and a trip to a Christian music festival. The His Mansion Summer Carnival took place on September 6th and included a surprise visit from a local food truck vendor: New Hampshah’s Mini Donuts, run by Bob and Esther Phillips, stopped by and blessed the community with their sweet treats.
His Mansion was also blessed this summer with an abundance of produce from the garden, through several visiting work groups including churches from North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Nova Scotia, and through the work and contributions it took to complete the new pavilion.
