Ramah’s Story of Restoration

Ramah grew up in a loving Christian family in Santa Clara, California. As the daughter of a pastor, she was actively involved in church and knew the importance of a relationship with Jesus. At 12 years of age, Ramah was exposed to pornography and a cycle of addiction, depression and self-harm was set in motion.

The next decade of Ramah’s life would be characterized by a pattern of shame that not only impacted her view of herself, but also shaped her beliefs about God. She believed the lie that she was alone and that God expected her to clean up her act on her own. In an effort to pay for her sin, and as a way to cover up her shame, Ramah dove deeper and deeper into ministry. Over the years, her identity became defined by her work in ministry, as well as in her ongoing addiction to pornography. As a result, she grew bitter towards God, believing He was only interested in using her. “Not only had I been stuck in addiction, but I was building piles of garbage that I called ‘good works’ and expecting to be congratulated,” Ramah said while reflecting on the state of her heart before coming to His Mansion.

God, however, was not growing bitter with Ramah. In fact, He was pursuing her, and in His lovingkindness, He led her to His Mansion in the fall of 2024. Looking back on how God revealed Himself to her, Ramah said, “I had these glasses on that were fogging my perspective of who God was, and I came here, and He took the glasses off.” Ramah’s gaze was shifted off of herself, and off of a false view of God, and onto Jesus Christ as He is. She began to see the God who created her and loved her as she is. Her fresh eyes, along with a supportive community and practical tools for dealing with stress and anxiety, became a tangible experience of God’s love independent of anything she could do for Him.

During the recovery program, the message of God’s unqualified love was driven deeper into Ramah’s heart while attending CenterPoint church in Concord, NH. In a sermon about Mary and Martha, the pastor said, “God’s primary goal is not to use you, but to love you.” It was like God was speaking directly to her. He was revealing His love to Ramah, and her beliefs were completely changing. She even began to see His real purpose in bringing her to The Hill. “God has so much more for me than just healing my addiction. He wants an intimate, mind-renewing, heart-transforming relationship with me,” Ramah said.

As her relationship with Jesus became grounded in His love for her, Ramah’s calling to ministry began to be restored, and in November of 2025, she joined the Servant Leader Program. When asked what she loves about being a Servant Leader, she said, “You get to see people come to life again. I love when I get to see Residents start walking in the light and experiencing the freedom to do that.”

Ramah continues to grow in ministry and in her understanding of God. The love of Jesus has transformed her life.

Annual Summer Carnival

The annual summer carnival is always an evening of laughter and fun, but there is a deeper significance taking place. When people once bound in addiction are beginning to find joy together in everyday life, it’s a good sign that the presence of Christ is changing their lives.
