The Lord directs their steps

God is forging many stories at His Mansion among the staff as well as the Residents. Three new families joined the community over the past year: the McHales, the Lekkerkerkers and the Gaudets. Whether they were born one state away or on the other side of the world, God directed their paths to serve at His Mansion.

The McHale family

David McHale first visited His Mansion on a spring break trip while attending Wheaton College. The gospel at work in the midst of a broken population deeply resonated with him. “My life is a story of God’s mercy,” he says, “breaking me down and building me up again and again with steadfast love.” He joined staff the next year, in 2012.

While on staff, David grew in his understanding of God’s love and of the calling God had for his life. He met and married his wife Jaime, who was serving on staff as a counselor. In 2020 God led the McHales to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where David ministered as an Associate Pastor of Community and Corporate Worship while completing his MA in Counseling Ministries at Covenant Theological Seminary.

In June 2025 the Lord brought the McHales, now with their daughter Emma, back to His Mansion for David to serve as Director of Men’s Care and Formation. David reflects, “I believe God has shown me his dignifying and redeeming love in my own journey of brokenness such that I believe I am prepared to offer it to others.”

The Lekkerkerker family

Through a different journey of brokenness, God was also drawing Rune Lekkerkerker. Rune grew up in the Netherlands without the gospel. He pursued truth through Eastern philosophy, New Age spirituality, and a Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which he used to counsel others. After a failed marriage he keenly felt his personal brokenness and spiritual emptiness. It was then that Christ graciously revealed Himself to Rune and saved him, in May 2021. God restored Rune’s marriage, and he was discipled through his local church in Arizona.

God then brought Rune and his wife Jocelyn to His Mansion in November 2024, where Rune serves as Men’s Program Administrator. “The Lord has used every part of my past to humble me and teach me that apart from Him, I have nothing to offer,” Rune testifies. “Through His Word, I’ve come to see how much I relied on my own strength and insight in the past, and how freeing it is to now lean fully on the sufficiency of Scripture and the power of the Holy Spirit.” The family includes their son Kane.

The Gaudet family

The same Holy Spirit led Amy Gaudet from Massachusetts to His Mansion in February 2025 as a full-time Women’s Counselor and Instructor. God’s work in her began in her teenage heart in the early 1980s. Her interest in Christ waned in college, but God drew her gradually and completely back to Himself. With the birth of each of her three sons, now grown, she wanted “more of the Lord’s rule” over her life. As God drew Amy’s heart with His steadfast love, her husband Ken was saved.

Amy holds an MA in Social Work, is licensed in clinical social work, and has provided psychotherapy to patients for twenty-nine years. More recently she led a post-abortion ministry at a medical pregnancy center. “My last job in ministry enabled me to point hurting people to Jesus as a part of counseling them,” she comments. “The Lord made a road to come here and clearly let my husband and I know that this was His plan.”

2025 summer baptisms

“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4

This is the program these stories come from

The program is one year, which may vary depending on when a Resident arrives. It is a two-stage program, both 6 months in duration. His Mansion takes in new Residents on a monthly basis. Admission times vary depending on each individual situation.

No, you do not have to be a Christian to join the recovery program. The program is Christ-centered and we do ask that you be open to a Christian approach.
