The faithful Provider

God’s character is beautifully unchanging (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8). From the founding of His Mansion in Wauregan, Connecticut to the present day in Deering, New Hampshire, God has been a consistent and faithful Provider.

Early on, God provided in countless ways. For example, in the winter of 1979, in the wake of the Connecticut property burning to the ground, God used Harold and Gladys Griggs to bring a hot meal to about twenty people at His Mansion every day for over two months. Today, the dining hall on campus is named “Griggs” as a reminder of God’s faithfulness.

God’s provision has continued over the decades in numerous practical ways. Whether through giving Dodge vans twenty years ago or a Transit van last year, God’s character remains unchanged. In just the last year and a half He has provided an indoor walk-in freezer, a sander to keep the driveways safe in winter, a new grow room in the barn for seedlings, and a Kubota and trucks to help care for the property. Through both the finances and skills of supporting churches and work groups, God has restored rotting porches at Griggs and the Long House, built a generator shed, and renovated part of the women’s dorm and Cabin Ruth for growing personnel needs.

God also provides uniquely gifted people. A year ago God called Armand Paladino to become Director of Operations, and guided local volunteers Jon and Gary to offer their carpentry skills weekly. Griggs has a beautiful new “Coffee Corner” thanks to their labors. After months of prayers, God is bringing two new female Servant Leaders in September.

In His Mansion’s early days, God gave people a desire to join Him as He provided for this ministry. Over the years many more have joined those ranks, giving financially, practically and through prayer.

Baptisms

On July 24th His Mansion celebrated the restoring love of God as six Residents followed Jesus in believer’s baptism at the Deering Reservoir. Their public declaration of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is a reminder of God’s great provision for reconciliation and forgiveness through Christ.

Jehovah Jireh

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” Colossians 3:23

Our God is truly Jehovah Jireh, a name for Him found throughout the Old Testament that means “The Lord will provide.” Many of those who come to His Mansion, burdened by disappointment and brokenness, have discovered that the promises of the world fall short and lead to devastating results. Often their lives bear witness to both the emptiness of worldly assurances and the profound needs we all face as human beings. Disillusioned by their experiences time and again, they long for someone they can rely on.

At His Mansion we have seen our Heavenly Father meet our practical needs throughout the years, sometimes down to the very last second. We trust in His continued faithfulness because we remember all He has done, as Psalm 77:11-12 reminds us. We trust Him even more because we rejoice in the truth of how perfectly and eternally He has met our deepest need. Through the sacrifice of His one and only Son, Jesus, God has provided us with what we need more than anything else, a Savior.

Above all else, we need Jesus, the perfect and spotless Lamb. Without Him we would still be lost, dead in our sins, and without hope for a future beyond this life. We would have no need of a “recovery” ministry because without Him, there is no such thing: no empowerment to live life to the full, no freedom, no peace, no hope.

Prayer requests

  • Two new Servant Leaders are joining the women’s program in September. Pray that their year will be a time of joy, service and personal growth in the Lord.
  • For the staffing needs at His Mansion, that the Lord would send equipped men and women to The Hill.
  • For the spouses and children on The Hill. Community life is vital to the mission; pray for the families as the Lord uses them in the restoration process.
  • For the many men and women who need a place like His Mansion, that God will continue to lead the broken to The Hill to find hope in Jesus Christ.

This is the program these stories come from

The program is one year, which may vary depending on when a Resident arrives. It is a two-stage program, both 6 months in duration. His Mansion takes in new Residents on a monthly basis. Admission times vary depending on each individual situation.

No, you do not have to be a Christian to join the recovery program. The program is Christ-centered and we do ask that you be open to a Christian approach.
