Total reliance on God: Cierra
Cierra, age twenty-two, arrived at His Mansion to be a Servant Leader in February 2023. Although she came eagerly prepared with a theology degree to help broken people, she began to recognize her own brokenness and how much she needed the love of Jesus. Her testimony is one example of how God uses the Servant Leader program to draw both Residents and Servant Leaders into knowing Him more deeply.
First, God invites Servant Leaders to join Him in impacting Residents daily as He transforms their lives. Showing Christ’s love to Residents through their joyous and painful times is “both humbling and rewarding,” Cierra notes. One Resident woman says, “Cierra never gives up on pointing the women toward Christ and loves us for who we are.” Another Resident adds, “Seeing her grow and the confidence she has being totally reliant on God is really beautiful.”
God also grows Servant Leaders. Cierra admits that she has some “over-anxious tendencies,” but in the Servant Leader role she has come to depend more on Jesus and His love. “So I don’t need to overthink,” she says. “I have the Spirit in me and He’s going to give me what I need each and every moment to help serve the ladies better.”
Discipleship Coordinator Rachael Miller observes, “I have seen Cierra grow in releasing her anxieties to the Lord. This has freed her to rest more and more in her identity as a beloved daughter of the King.” For Cierra, speaking truth to Residents helps her to speak that same truth to herself. “I have had the awesome opportunity to experience my Savior in a new way,” she adds, “and I am overwhelmed at the gift that it is to do this alongside Residents who are doing the same thing.”
On the road again
His Mansion found itself at the crossroads of a good news / bad news situation: the good news is that the program is growing. More Residents are arriving from all over, the dorms are refilling, and the ministry is able to reach more young people with the restoration message of Jesus.
The bad news is that the ability to transport a larger number of Residents and Servant Leaders to church, events and visits would require another fifteen-passenger van.
Our great God and generous partners have provided for that need. His Mansion recently added a 2022 Ford Transit, which will not only handle the growing program needs but also provide flexibility and safer transportation.
Grow your group at His Mansion
“Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples.” Psalm 96:1-3
Work Group season is fast approaching. A Work Group is a chance to come and be a part of a special project and/or experience working alongside the Residents and Servant Leaders at His Mansion. Groups share meals and times of praise and worship with the community as well.
Time and time again, churches that join the His Mansion community for a week as a Work Group are blessed in ways they had not imagined, and then they take a lasting impact back to their local Body of Christ. Pastor Chris Chu, from Gospel Operation International, says, “God meets our team members where they are. Each time we go to The Hill, the Lord Jesus calls us to encounter afresh His gospel, His fellowship, and His body.”
Like Pastor Chris, many other groups from all over the country have experienced a week at His Mansion and have been profoundly impacted by the time. Randy, from Sunset Avenue Baptist in North Carolina, reflects on how a Work Group deepened relationships at his church when he says, “It’s a great way to join together and to build camaraderie among church members. Typically, you always see people at church in the same way, but in this case, you learn so much from your group.”
